The Wildebeest Migration – Kenya 2018

In 1991 I traveled to Africa for the first time to photograph the wildlife.  Since then, I have traveled to Africa dozens of times and caught what is called the “Africa Bug”, which draws me back over and over again.   This year (2016) I was hired to teach photography to a small group on a private photo tour that featured the Wildebeest Migration in Kenya.  It was spectacular: I usually take about 3,000 to 4,000 photos on a trip, in Kenya I ended up with 10,000 images.

On the last day of our adventure the three clients, who are also good friends, requested that I put another tour together for 2018.  Here it is!  This will be the best trip ever to see the migration.  We will spend time on both sides of the Mara River in order to see the wildebeests and zebras crossing from different angles.  Please be aware that you will not see only wildebeests and zebras; there will be antelopes, giraffes, leopards, lions, cheetahs, elephants and many other animals waiting for you.  Just have a look at my slideshow.

For those of you who would like to see the Big Five: elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and cape buffalo, I offer an optional pre-trip to the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy where you will find one of the highest wildlife densities in Kenya including 11% and 14% of the country’s black and white rhinos respectively, and the world’s single largest population of Grevy’s zebra. The conservancy is also the best place to spot herds of elephants and buffalo, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, more than 400 species of birds and if lucky, a pack of wild dogs!

This trip is suited for the non-photographers as well.
