It was a little cold, but everyone showed up with warm clothes. We started off in Downtown Park photographing the waterfall which was a good subject to practice compositions and slow shutter speeds. The overcast sky gave us a nice soft light. Below are a few samples:
Shutter speed: 1/6s, F/20 Shutter speed: 1/60s, F/6.3 Shutter speed: 1/200s, F/3.5
The ice skating ring was operating which gave us another opportunity to get a few images.
On Snowflake Lane we practices night photography. I showed everyone how a selective depth of field sometimes can improve an image by blurring out the background. Long exposures made interesting compositions with the red taillights of cars coming by (photo on top).
70-200mm lens, Shutter speed: 6 seconds, Aperture: F/16, zoomed out from 116mm during exposure.
